Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah said that there was once a crime industry in Uttar Pradesh, cottage industries of vehicle theft were set up in every city and illegal kattas were made, but today in the same Uttar Pradesh, a defense corridor is being built in place of katta industry, vehicle manufacturing in place of vehicle theft and a medical device park in place of chain snatching. This change has come under the double engine government and Uttar Pradesh is becoming a major center of investment in the country and the world. The Union Home Minister was addressing the inaugural ceremony of the fourth edition of the UP International Trade Show (UPITS) at the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida on Thursday.

UP in the direction of becoming the development engine of the country
Amit Shah said that in the year 2013, the condition of Uttar Pradesh was such that there was no situation to organize an industrial investment conference in Lucknow. The officials had organized the event in Delhi citing law and order. Today, the same Uttar Pradesh is moving towards becoming the development engine of the country by becoming a center of investment. For investment, law and order, favorable industrial policy, active government and providing facilities to industries are necessary and all these conditions are present in Uttar Pradesh. The result of this is that the state has set the target of becoming a one trillion dollar economy.
Increasing investment in Defense Corridor of UP
The Union Home Minister said that six nodes of the Defense Corridor are being developed in Jhansi, Chitrakoot, Lucknow, Agra, Aligarh and Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh. Investments are coming in these areas for manufacturing of defense equipment. The country's defense production has now crossed Rs 1.78 lakh crore and exports of defense products have increased 56 times compared to 2013-14. Today, India's defense products are being exported to about 80 countries, in which Uttar Pradesh also has an important contribution. The Uttar Pradesh government has worked to facilitate investment along the Defense Corridor through infrastructure and favorable policies. The AK-203 rifle manufactured in Amethi and the defense products being manufactured in Uttar Pradesh show the new industrial potential of the country.

ODOP changed the picture of employment
Amit Shah said that One District One Product (ODOP) has an important role in increasing employment opportunities for the youth of Uttar Pradesh. Market has been made available to local products by promoting traditional industries and handicrafts. The youth of the state, who once went to other states for employment, are now getting employment and entrepreneurship opportunities in their own state. Carpet of Bhadohi, glass of Firozabad, wood art of Saharanpur, perfume of Kannauj and silk saree of Banaras have made their mark in the country and the world. He expressed confidence that along with the traditional products of UP, products like Malaiyo of Varanasi, Tiranga Barfi, Petha of Agra, Peda of Mathura and Gajak of Meerut will also get a wide market.
UP International Trade Show will become a platform for global trade
The Union Minister said that the participation of buyers and entrepreneurs from across the country and the world in the fourth edition of the UP International Trade Show will increase the possibilities of investment, production and sales in the state. The President was present in the first edition, the Vice President in the second and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the third edition, while he is happy to attend the inauguration of the fourth edition. More than five lakh people participated in the 2025 trade show and more than 2,400 MOUs were signed. This year's event is expected to break all previous records. While congratulating Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the state government for organizing the trade show, the Union Home Minister said that Uttar Pradesh will continue to move ahead in the direction of development.
