Jhansi. The picture seems to be changing as the investigation progresses in the case of death of a BA student after consuming poisonous substance in Gursaray area. The family members had accused half a dozen youth of gang rape, but the police investigation so far has not confirmed gang rape. Two minors have been detained in the case, while interrogation of four other named people is going on.
The student died on 22 September
According to the police, on September 22, information was received from Gursaray Community Health Center that the student had consumed poisonous substance. He was dead by the time he reached the hospital. On the complaint of the family, a case was registered against six people. After this the police started investigating the case.
Investigation into the role of two minors
Investigation revealed that on September 20, two minor youths had gone out to play a game. During this time he met the student. Police claim that one of them went inside the room with the minor student, while the other remained outside. During interrogation, one of the accused admitted to having a relationship with the student.
The police and forensic team also recovered a used condom from the spot. It has been sent to the Forensic Science Lab for DNA testing. The report of this investigation is expected to help in understanding the circumstances of the case.
No injury marks in post mortem
According to Jhansi SSP Vikas Kumar, no injury marks were found on the body of the student in the post-mortem. The viscera has been preserved and sent for examination to determine the actual cause of death. Police are also conducting forensic examination of mobile phones and other digital evidence. So far, there is no information about any video related to the incident being found from any mobile phone.
Fear of suicide due to fear of defamation
The police is now also investigating whether the girl student took suicidal steps due to fear of social stigma after the information about the incident spread in the village. However, this is an angle of investigation at this time and the police have not established it as the final reason.
The SSP has also clarified that four other people named in the case have not been given clean chit yet. Police are waiting for the scientific and technical investigation report. Further action will be decided on that basis.
