Tata Motors has introduced its compact sedan Tigor in the Indian automobile market with a new name and updated design. The company has now named it Tata Aeris. The starting ex-showroom price of the new sedan has been kept at Rs 5.29 lakh, while the price of its top variant goes up to Rs 9.19 lakh ex-showroom. The company has started booking Tata Aeris. At the same time, its delivery is said to start from the first day of Navratri. The new sedan has been introduced in a total of 5 variants – Smart, Pure, Pure+, Creative and Accomplished.
Tata Aeris will be different from Tigor
Tata Aeris is built on the company's new X-Alpha architecture. It has been launched mainly in the market for personal car buyers. Whereas for the commercial and taxi segments, the existing Tigor will continue to be sold under the name Tigor Express.
The new Tata Aeris will compete with compact sedans like Maruti Suzuki Dzire and Honda Amaze in the Indian market.
The new design will give a more modern look
Many major changes have been made in the exterior of the new Aeris compared to the Tigor. The front and rear profiles of the car have been updated. It has a new front grille, whose design looks similar to Tata Tiago.
Apart from this, new headlamps, LED DRLs and updated fog lamps have been provided in the car. Connected light strip and new LED tail-lamps are available at the rear. New blacked-out alloy wheels have also been installed to give the car a sporty look.
Keeping in mind bad roads and potholes, it has been given a ground clearance of 170 mm. Customers will be able to buy it in a total of 6 color options, which include Dandell Drizzle, Nitro Crimson, Dune Glow, Daytona Grey, Pure Gray and Pristine White.
Premium cabin with 10.25 inch screen
An attempt has also been made to make the interior of Tata Aeris more modern than before. It has a fabric-inspired dashboard, new two-spoke steering wheel and Beige Pale and Gray color theme.
The cabin of the car has a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a fully digital instrument cluster. Apart from this, features like wireless charging, start-stop button, cruise control and automatic climate control are also provided.
The car also has features like 360-degree camera, in-built dashcam, ventilated front seats, rear AC vents and 65W Type-C charging.
In the AMT variant, the company has given a rotary dial gear selector. Apart from this, paddle shifters are also available to make driving more sporty.
Option of CNG and CNG-AMT with petrol
Tata Aeris has a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. The same engine is also used in Tata Tiago. Customers will be able to buy the car in petrol as well as CNG option.
The special thing about this car is its CNG-AMT combination. Tata Motors has used its twin-cylinder technology for the CNG system, so that the boot space is not affected much due to the CNG tank.
According to the company, about 70 liters of boot space is available in the CNG version. In petrol mode, the engine produces 86 bhp power and 113 Nm torque. Whereas in CNG mode it generates power of 75 bhp and torque of 96.5 Nm.
For transmission, the option of 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT is available. According to the company, the car can also be started directly in CNG mode.
Many safety features including 6 airbags
In terms of safety, many features have been added to Tata Aeris. The company has kept 6 airbags as standard in all its variants.
Apart from this, features like blind-spot monitoring, torque vectoring, roll-over mitigation, hill-hold control and cornering stability control are available in the car. Post-crash SOS support is also provided to help in case of emergency.
Overall, the company has launched Tata Aeris in the compact sedan segment with features like new design, more features, petrol-CNG option and CNG-AMT. Now it remains to be seen what kind of response the new Aeris gets from customers in the market.
