New Delhi. The opposition's opposition to Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar is increasing. Now a petition has been filed in the Supreme Court in which the demand has been raised to cancel the decisions related to SIR taken by Gyanesh Kumar. In this petition filed by advocate Shailendra Mani Tripathi, citing the Indian Express report, differences of opinion have been mentioned between CEC Gyanesh Kumar and other election commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi regarding the SIR process. The petitioner has demanded the Supreme Court to constitute a SIT to investigate the removal of names of 13 crore people from the voter list across the country under the SIR process.
Petitioner Shailendra Mani Tripathi said that a judicial inquiry commission or a special investigation team should be formed under the chairmanship of a retired judge of the Supreme Court. The petitioner has requested the Supreme Court that IT experts should also be included in the SIT formed to investigate the case. The petitioner has quoted media reports as saying that Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi had objected to the changes in Form 6. Apart from this, CEC and Election Commissioner were not of the same opinion on other issues also.

On the other hand, Congress has started protests across the country, intensifying the demand for the resignation of Chief Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Congress demands that a criminal case should be registered against Gyanesh Kumar and he should be arrested. Congress had yesterday itself directed its state units to take out protest marches to the election offices of all the states. Rahul Gandhi also held a press conference on this issue yesterday. In all the cities of the country including Delhi, Jammu, Patna, Kolkata, Chandigarh and Hyderabad, Congress workers are taking to the streets and protesting against CEC Gyanesh Kumar.
