The white Safari car which was seized by the police in the case of alleged molestation of two girl students of Delhi University in Mukherjee Nagar and an attempt to forcibly drag them into the car, already has an outstanding traffic fine of Rs 44 thousand. According to Delhi Police, most of the challans registered against this car are related to driving at high speed. Traffic police said that on September 13 also the same car was challaned for overspeeding. The police are now also investigating the old traffic records related to this vehicle. According to the police, following the incident with girl students in Mukherjee Nagar, the car has been seized and investigation into the matter is underway.
According to the police, the incident occurred near Haqiqat Park around 9:30 pm on Wednesday night. After receiving information about the incident, the police started investigating the matter and identified the car and took it into custody. During investigation, it came to light that the white Safari car which was used in the incident already had outstanding traffic challans worth Rs 44 thousand. Most of these challans are related to driving at high speed. According to the traffic police, on September 13 also the same car was challaned for overspeeding.
The student released the video and told the whole story of the incident
In a video shared on social media, the student gave information about the incident. According to the student, she was walking with her friend. Meanwhile, a white car stopped near them. The student alleges that the people in the car made objectionable comments on both of them. The student claimed that when she and her friend protested, the people in the car allegedly molested them. After this the accused chased them for some distance. According to the student, after the incident both of them informed the police about the matter.
'Made rounds of four police stations', student also accused the police
The student alleged that when she and her friend stopped to film the incident, the people in the car also stopped and allegedly tried to drag them into the car. According to the student, as soon as her friend started recording the car, the occupants of the car fled from there. The student also claimed that she and her friend had to visit three different police stations for about four hours to lodge the complaint. According to the student, initially she was told that the incident does not fall within the concerned police station area. Later his complaint was registered.
However, the police said that the student's allegation that she had to visit several police stations before the case was registered is also being investigated. According to the police, the car driver has been identified as Naman, who is said to be a student of Delhi University. Two-three other people were also present with him in the car at the time of the incident. Police are also investigating his role.
DCP said- Case registered on the basis of complaint, investigation continues
North-West Delhi DCP Akanksha Yadav said that two girl students were going on the road on Wednesday night. Meanwhile, some youths traveling in the SUV allegedly molested both of them and made objectionable comments on them. DCP said that based on the complaint of the victim, a case has been registered and investigation has been started. Police have identified the car allegedly used in the incident and recovered it. The police also confirmed the recovery of the car in a statement issued late last night. According to the police, an FIR has been registered at Mukherjee Nagar police station under Section 78 (stalking), Section 79 (intent to insult the modesty of a woman by word, gesture or act) and Section 3(5) (common intention) of the Indian Code of Justice (BNS).
