Nagoya, Sept 26:
A last-minute change to India’s shooting line-up produced a golden result as Kamaljeet and Suruchi Inder Singh won the 10m air pistol mixed team gold at the Asian Games on Friday.
Kamaljeet was brought into the pairing just 48 hours before the deadline after Kedarling Uchaganve’s form dipped. The new combination responded with a Games and Asian record score of 484.6 to comfortably defeat South Korea.
The victory ended India’s six-day wait for a shooting gold at the Games. The decision to alter the pairing came after Kedarling’s disappointing performance in the men’s 10m air pistol qualification, where he finished 35th with a score of 568.
Kamaljeet had very little time to settle into the new partnership, while Suruchi was also looking to put behind her disappointment in the individual event. The duo delivered under pressure to give India its first shooting gold of the Games.
