Indian cricket team’s veteran batsman Rohit Sharma has given a big hint about his future regarding the 2027 ODI World Cup. Rohit, who has retired from Test and T20 International cricket, currently plays for India in ODI cricket. Before the ODI series against West Indies, Rohit made it clear that there is still a lot left for him to achieve in cricket.
While talking to JioStar, Rohit Sharma said that the thought never came to his mind that his work has been completed. He said, ‘The thought will never come to my mind that the work I had to do is over.’
Rohit further said that as long as he is playing cricket, there will definitely be something for him to achieve. Expressing his curiosity about the 2027 World Cup, he said, ‘As long as you are playing, there is always something to look forward to. I am looking forward to the World Cup and seeing what lies ahead for me.
Rohit also told that ICC tournaments present a different challenge than normal series. Playing in different opposing teams and in different conditions requires a change in preparation and thinking.
Rohit had missed the trophy in 2023
Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, India had reached the final of the 2023 ODI World Cup, but after the defeat against Australia in Ahmedabad, the team’s dream of winning the title was shattered. Rohit can now be seen trying to complete this incomplete target in the 2027 World Cup.
The 2027 ODI World Cup is to be played in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia in October-November. Rohit has distanced himself from Test and T20 International cricket, but his journey in ODI is still continuing.
