UP Business: Uttar Pradesh MSME Minister Bhupendra Chaudhary said that India’s changing trade policy has opened new opportunities in global markets for the entrepreneurs of Uttar Pradesh and the MSME sector. Sectors like textiles, leather, engineering goods, gems and jewellery, pharmaceuticals and ODOP can benefit from the free trade agreements signed by India with various countries.
In the session ‘Leveraging India’s Free Trade Agreements for Global Business Growth’, he said that traditional products of Uttar Pradesh like brass of Moradabad, carpets of Bhadohi, locks of Aligarh and perfume of Kannauj have the potential to strengthen their identity in the global market. The state’s huge MSME base, modern infrastructure, better connectivity and development of e-economic export hubs and logistics facilities are helping exporters access new markets.
Moved in the direction of ‘local to global’
Calling upon entrepreneurs and exporters to take advantage of the opportunities available from India’s trade agreements, he said that on the strength of quality, innovation and competitiveness, local products of Uttar Pradesh can be linked to the global market and moved in the direction of ‘Local to Global’.
UPITS PICTURE OF NEW UTTAR PRADESH OF NEW INDIA
Industrial Development Minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi said that UPITS is the picture of new Uttar Pradesh of new India, which has emerged as an effective platform to connect the local strength of the state, skills of artisans and talent of entrepreneurs with global opportunities. Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the business and industrial sector of Uttar Pradesh has gained new momentum. UPITS, which started in the year 2023, has reached its fourth edition and the participation of foreign buyers, exhibitors and various countries in it reflects the growing global business reach of the state.
He said that through UPITS, products from various sectors including ODOP, handicrafts, agriculture and food processing, textile, leather, electronics are getting an opportunity to access the global market. India’s trade agreements and FTAs with various countries have opened up new opportunities for exporters, which entrepreneurs from Uttar Pradesh can take advantage of.

More than one crore MSMEs in the state, better connectivity, strong infrastructure and availability of talented youth are its major strengths. The participation of countries such as Japan, Vietnam, Singapore, Russia, Austria and Belarus reflects the global reach of UPITS. He said that Uttar Pradesh is moving towards playing a strong role in the development journey of developed India by connecting local products to the global market.
