He has clearly warned that AI technology is so powerful that it can trigger incidents that can take the lives of billions of people.
Speaking at an event, Bill Gates said that AI is definitely so powerful that it can trigger incidents that could cost billions of lives. He further said that if people with bad intentions use advanced AI tools, it can create a very dangerous situation. Because there has never been any weapon so powerful in history.
Gates said clearly that no one thinks that companies will be able to regulate this technology on their own. Therefore, leaders and lawmakers need to take initiative. When asked if it should be legalized in the United States, he quickly replied, “Absolutely.”
According to Bill Gates, it is important to involve politicians and law enforcement agencies in discussing the necessary measures and monitoring for the safety of AI. This may impose some administrative burden on the industry; But this will not have any major impact on the speed of their work. Gates has appealed to American citizens not to ignore the potential dangers of AI.
Meanwhile, a new discussion about the dangers of AI began in Silicon Valley when Jacob Coxon, an employee of Anthropic company, resigned from his job. He made serious allegations against his old employers Anthropic and OpenAI, saying that these companies are putting human lives in danger in their haste to create super-intelligent AI.
After this, Anthropic co-founder Dario Amodei asked AI companies to slow down the pace of building models. He raised concerns about 'recursive self-improvement'. Amodei has suggested three types of solutions for the development of AI. These include monitoring by external evaluators, enforcement of certain safety rules, and mutual cooperation between democratic and authoritarian countries.
