Lucknow:
At least 10 people were killed and 17 injured in rain-related incidents in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday as several parts of the State experienced heavy rainfall. As many as 63 districts recorded above-normal rainfall, according to a report by Business Standard.
The India Meteorological Department has forecast further rain in several parts of the country. On Monday, heavy rainfall alerts were issued for Uttarakhand, South Interior Karnataka and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, while thunderstorms and gusty winds were forecast in parts of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan and the northeast.
The continuing weather activity comes as the southwest monsoon enters its withdrawal phase, with multiple weather systems influencing conditions across the country. Authorities in vulnerable areas have been advised to remain alert to the possibility of further rain-related incidents.
