India's Tejaswin Shankar won the bronze medal in decathlon in the Asian Games, but he failed to get the gold medal. Because of this Tejaswin Shankar is disappointed with his performance. Tejaswin, who won the silver medal in the last Asian Games, scored 7,934 in the decathlon. Yuma Muruyama of Japan won the gold medal by scoring 8,123, while Chen X of China won the silver medal by scoring 8,012 points.
The decathlon competition was held on Sunday. In the previous game, Japan's Muruyama had won the silver medal. Disappointed with his performance, Tejaswin said, 'Third place was not what I was aiming for. I have to end this bronze medal streak. I am quite disappointed at this time. I don't think I have won the bronze, rather I have lost the silver medal.

In the last event of decathlon, Indian player Tejaswin won the 1500 meter race with a time of 4:33.09. He left Muruyama (4:33.92) behind. However, this victory in the 1500 meter race did not have much impact on the score. Even before this, Japan's Muruyama had achieved the required points to win the gold medal.
Is the gold medal out of reach?
After this game, Tejaswin told that after the first event itself it was known that he would not be able to get the gold medal. Despite this he did not lose courage. Regarding the 1500 meter race, Tejaswin said that during the race, the heptathlon competition of the Asian Indoor Championship held in China in February was going on in his mind. During that time, he was remembering his defeat against Muruyama in the 1000 meter race.

Regarding this, Tejaswin said, 'At that time it was not about the medal, but about the fact that Yuma had defeated me in the last one kilometer in the Asian Indoor Championship. The reel of that race is widely circulated on social media.
He further said, 'Whenever I see that reel, I think that despite winning the gold medal, I could not beat him in that one kilometer. So during the entire 1500 meter race, when he was ahead of me, all that was running in my mind was that I have to catch him. In the end I will give him the same answer which he gave me that day.
Victory in 1500 meter race
Tejaswin said, 'He was ahead in the entire race. He had done the same in the Asian Indoor Championships. I knew when to take the lead and I did exactly that. I was quite satisfied with my performance in 1500 meters.

Before the Asian Games, Tejaswin had participated in three decathlon competitions. These included the Commonwealth Games held in Glasgow, where he won the bronze medal. Apart from this, he also participated in heptathlon in the Asian Indoor Championship. He believes that this year there has been one too many competitions.
After this he said, 'This year I have scored more than 7,900 in every decathlon. This in itself shows my improvement. Now I have to collect 300 more points to reach 8,300 points and qualify for the World Championships next year. This is my next challenge.
