New Delhi: The video of alleged cow slaughter that went viral on social media gave such clues to the police, connecting the links of which the North District Police arrested the main accused in the case. Police station Kotwali, while conducting technical and field investigation continuously day and night for about five days, has arrested 23-year-old Aurangzeb alias Azhar, resident of Amroha, Uttar Pradesh. According to the police, cases related to assault and obstruction on government employees, attempt to murder, damage to property, cruelty to animals and Arms Act are already registered against the accused in various police stations of Delhi.
Investigation started from viral video
North District DCP Niharika Bhatt said that on September 23, a video related to cow slaughter surfaced on social media and spread rapidly. Taking the matter seriously, FIR number 816/2026 was registered in the Kotwali police station under section 325 of the Indian Justice Code and section 11/38 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. After this a special team was formed to identify and arrest the accused. Taking charge of the investigation, the police team started investigating every link from the incident site to the movement of the suspects. The footage from thousands of CCTV cameras was carefully examined. In the early hours of September 23, from 3:15 am to 7 am, the movements of the suspicious vehicle and the people associated with it were tracked through cameras.
Cameras revealed each layer
During CCTV analysis, the police found important clues related to the movement of the suspects, parking the vehicle at a deserted place, taking the animal there and subsequent activities. These clues were verified at the field level. Combining technical evidence and ground investigation, the police gradually reached the main accused. After continuous operation day and night for about five days, the police identified Aurangzeb alias Azhar and caught him.
Claims to have found clues to many incidents during interrogation
According to the police, during interrogation, the accused along with his associates have allegedly told about being involved in several incidents of cow slaughter in Delhi. Police say that the accused and his associates allegedly used to mark stray or abandoned animals roaming on the streets. After this, they were taken to isolated places in vehicles and allegedly killed. According to the police, the meat was then delivered to people involved in further sales. During interrogation, information about the alleged involvement of the accused in some other cases in Uttar Pradesh has also come to light. However, the police are verifying these revelations and the role of the accused in the related incidents is being independently investigated.
Accused of firing on police earlier also
The criminal history of the arrested accused has also become an important part of the investigation. According to the police, cases related to obstruction of government employees, assault, attempt to murder, damage to property, animal cruelty and Arms Act have been registered against him in Maidangarhi police station and Ranhaula police station. Police said that in a case of Maidangarhi police station, the accused had allegedly opened fire on the police team. In the police action taken during that time, it was also revealed that the accused was shot in the leg.
Now the entire network is on target
After the arrest of the main accused, the police investigation has not ended here. Now emphasis is being laid on search of his alleged associates, investigation of vehicles and other resources used in transportation of animals and identification of people associated with the alleged supply and sale of meat. In Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, the cases mentioned by the accused during interrogation are also being verified.
