Punjab : Allegedly on a student at Lovely Professional University in Phagwada of rape After the incident, the anger of the students erupted. On Sunday (September 27) night, large-scale vandalism and arson took place in the university premises. Some vehicles, as well as police vehicles, were reportedly set on fire. After this violence, the university administration has decided to close the classes for the next ten days from September 28. Semester exams have also been postponed. According to information received, a student studying in the university has been accused of being raped by an outsider. After this information spread among the students, a large number of students took to the streets. Students vandalized various parts of the university. Some vehicles were set on fire, while the beautified part of the university was also damaged.

Clashes between students and police outside the hostel
It is reported that there was a scuffle between the students and the police outside the girls' hostel number three of the university. Students have accused a plumber of abusing a student. The incident was reported to the hostel superintendent; But the students alleged that proper action was not taken by them. After this, the angry students started protesting outside the university on National Highway No. 44. The students blocked the traffic on the highway causing a huge traffic jam. The police tried to evacuate the students to bring the situation under control. This time there was a clash between the students and the police. After that, it was said that the police were lathi-charged.
Police vehicles were also set on fire
After the baton charge, the angry students again entered the university premises. After that, vandalism and arson were done in various places. Information has come to light that four to five police vehicles have been set on fire by students. It was also said that some police personnel were injured in this violence. After the incident, a heavy police force has been deployed in the university premises. The administration has appealed to the students to maintain peace and follow the instructions given.

Classes closed for ten days
Considering the tense situation, the university administration has decided to close the classes for ten days from September 28. The semester exams have also been postponed and the revised schedule of the exams will be announced later. As classes are closed, students have been allowed to go home for ten days after discussing with their parents. The administration has made it clear that the students who are going to stay in the university premises should stay in the hostel and not go out unnecessarily. Meanwhile, the police have registered a case against an unknown person in the alleged rape of a student and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to investigate the case. The investigation of the incident and the identification of those involved in the violence is ongoing.
