Kathmandu. A total of 637 climbers from 68 teams have received permission to climb 18 different mountains for the autumn 2026 mountaineering season in Nepal. According to the tourism department, the climbers granted permission include 474 men and 163 women. The department has collected 23.85 crore Nepali rupees as royalty from mountaineers.
According to Tourism Department Information Officer Suraj Ghimire, 43 teams with a maximum of 500 climbers have received permission to climb Mount Manaslu. The department has received royalty of Nepalese rupees 22.58 crore from the mountaineers of Manaslu. Similarly, 34 climbers have been given permission to climb Dhaulagiri-1, 20 to Putha Himchuli, 16 to Danga Himchuli and 10 to Mount Barunste.
Apart from this, the Tourism Department has also given permission to climb other mountains including Makalu, Gangapurna West, Thorong Peak, Annapurna-4, Pumori and Thapa Peak (Dhampus). Autumn is considered one of the major mountaineering seasons in Nepal and during this time a large number of climbers from different countries reach for expeditions to the Himalayan peaks.
