Delhi : Two bike-riding friends returning from a friend’s birthday party were hit by a dumper in Lakshmi Nagar area on Sunday night.
In the accident, one friend died on the spot while the other was seriously injured. The deceased has been identified as Shiv Kumar (48). Chandan Gupta’s treatment is continuing.
After the accident, the driver fled leaving the dumper on the spot. Police have taken possession of the bike and dumper and started investigation. Eastern District Police Deputy Commissioner Rajeev Kumar said that Shivkumar lived with his family in Garhwali Mohalla, Laxmi Nagar.
Shivkumar had an electrical equipment shop in Ganesh Nagar area. There was a birthday party of one of his friends near the shop. At night, Shivkumar’s friend Chandan Gupta, who lives in Ganesh Nagar, left on his bike to drop him home.
Both were wearing helmets. Chandan, who was driving the bike, took the bike to Dehradun Expressway. Meanwhile, a dumper hit his bike.
In the accident, Shivkumar came under the dumper while Chandan got badly injured due to the collision. Police took both of them to the hospital, where Shivkumar was declared dead while Chandan Gupta is undergoing treatment.
