Rajkot : Lakshya Raichandani's 240 runs and brilliant bowling from Mohit Ulva, Ishan Om and Yashvardhan Chauhan led India Under-19 to a thumping win by an innings and 48 runs against Australia Under-19 in the first Youth Test. India scored 494 runs in reply to Australia's 217 runs in the first innings. After this, the Australian team could score only 229 runs in the second innings. Om and Yashvardhan together took all 10 wickets. Blake Cattle scored 123 runs, which was his second century in the match, but the rest of the batsmen could not last long and India registered victory on the third day itself.
Raichandani added 30 more runs to the unbeaten 210, but was dismissed as the first wicket of the day. He made a partnership of 180 runs for the ninth wicket with Ulva. Ulva scored 92 runs in 84 balls, which included 10 fours and four sixes. After this, Australia also did not have a good start. Left-arm spinner Om took three wickets in a single over. He dismissed Hayden Barbulovic, captain Matthew Love and Jade Hollick, leaving Australia at 17 for three. After this, Cattle took over the innings along with opener Neil Patel and both made a partnership of 60 runs. Yashvardhan broke this partnership and bowled Patel for 41 runs. In the 26th over, Yashvardhan gave another big blow to Australia's hopes by taking two consecutive wickets and their score became 87 runs for six wickets.
After this, he got his third wicket by dismissing Casey Barton for 8 runs. However, Cattle kept scoring runs at a high strike rate and did not get much support from the other end. He scored 123 runs in 114 balls, which included 16 fours and four sixes. Thanks to his innings, Australia crossed 200, but Yashvardhan also took his wicket in the 58th over. Om took one more wicket and took his tally of wickets in the match to nine, while Yashvardhan completed six wickets by dismissing the last batsman and his tally of wickets in the match increased to eight.
