The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has made many of its services available through UMANG, eliminating the need for employees to repeatedly visit the PF office for many common tasks.
UMANG i.e. Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance is a government platform in which different government services are made available through a single app.
You can check your PF Passbook sitting at home.
EPFO members can access their PF passbooks through the UMANG app . This app allows them to view information about contributions deposited into their accounts and the available balance. Official information from the EPFO lists the passbook service as one of the services available on UMANG.
PF Claim can also be made online.
If you are eligible to withdraw PF amount as per the rules, then facility of filing claim online through UMANG is also available.
After submitting a claim, its status can also be checked. EPFO has made both online claim filing and claim tracking services available on UMANG.
Help in UAN activation also
In recent years, the EPFO has simplified UAN-related services through the UMANG app. Activation of an existing UAN and allocation of a new UAN through Aadhaar-based face authentication are now available in UMANG. This may also require the Aadhaar Face RD app.
The advantage of this is that in many cases the employee can complete the process from his mobile itself.

After submitting a PF claim, there’s no need to repeatedly visit the office to check its progress. UMANG offers a claim tracking feature that allows you to check your application status.
Pension related facilities are also available
According to the EPFO, some pension-related services are also available on UMANG. These include submitting life certificates and processing Pension Payment Orders .
Be careful, avoid fake apps
PF information is extremely sensitive. The EPFO consistently warns against sharing your UAN, password, Aadhaar, bank details, or OTP with anyone you don’t know . The EPFO never asks for these details via phone or text message, nor does it ask individuals to deposit money.
Therefore, always download the UMANG app from the official app store and do not use suspicious websites, links or mobile apps for any PF related work.
