Jammu : Four Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) soldiers, including an assistant commandant and a sub-inspector, were killed in an incident of mutual firing in Basohli area of Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district on Tuesday evening.
Officials said an incident of firing was recorded this evening at the CISF camp located near Seva Project at Mashka in Basohli. These soldiers were deployed for the security of the project.
“As per initial reports, there was an altercation between CISF personnel following which firing started,” he said. He said that four CISF personnel, including an assistant commandant, a sub-inspector and two soldiers, were seriously injured. He was taken to NHPC Hospital in the neighboring state of Himachal Pradesh, where he died during treatment. The deceased have been identified as Assistant Commandant Ankit Kumar Pandey, Sub-Inspector Laxman Singh, Constable Rafiq Ahmed and Constable Sandeep Kumar. Senior Superintendent of Police of Kathua district Mohita Sharma has confirmed this incident. Officials said that the accused head constable Abhidesh Kumar had started firing indiscriminately from his service rifle after an argument with some of his colleagues. He has been arrested and his service rifle has also been confiscated.
