A new fusion of fashion and home decor
In the fashion world, attention is no longer being given only to clothes and accessories. Many Indian fashion and lifestyle brands are now focusing on homegrown products as well. These include prominent names like Matsya, Pero, Nicobar and Sabyasachi. These brands have also incorporated their designs, colours, fabrics and workmanship into home goods.
This connection between fashion and home decor isn't new, but now many brands are taking it forward in their own way. The colours, prints, workmanship and designs used in clothes are now being seen in household items too. This is giving people the opportunity to maintain a uniform style in their clothes and home look.

A new example of this trend is Matsya. Established in 2014, this fashion brand is famous for its 'Modern Royalty' look. It has now expanded its operations into home and lifestyle products through Matsya Home & Living.
Matsya's home collection includes dinnerware, crystal glasses, home fabrics and other decorative items. The brand uses Indian craftsmanship and high-quality fabrics in its clothing, and now this philosophy is visible in home products as well. Matsya says some of its old artisans are now also working on porcelain tableware and other household items.

Pero has also begun incorporating the vintage fabrics and workmanship used in her fashion into home products. A special showcase of Pero Home was also organized in Chennai from 3rd to 6th September 2026.
According to Pero's designer Anith Arora, the brand had about 20 seasons' worth of textiles preserved. Now these old clothes are being used in household items in a new way. About eight seasons' worth of clothing has been worked on over the years.
Items like quilts, cushions, table linen, bedding, throws, carpets, pillow covers and curtains are being made from them. Some quilts take anywhere from two weeks to 45 days to make. More than 600 fabric flowers are also included in one design, and each flower is cut and sewn separately.

Nicobar is also an example of this trend. The brand focuses on fashion as well as home and lifestyle products. Its home category includes kitchen and dining accessories, serveware, glass, decorative items, candles, fragrances and clothing. Nicobar is now also selling furniture, which includes chairs, tables, sofas, beds and other furniture.
The idea of Nicobar is not limited to just decorating the house. The brand has previously talked about connecting its designs with the modern Indian lifestyle. Its fashion and home products draw inspiration from Indian culture, nature and travel. Therefore, in Nicobar, clothing and household items are not seen as two separate categories, but both appear to be part of the same lifestyle.

Fashion designer Sabyasachi is also now working for home products. The Sabyasachi for Nilaya collection, which includes wallpapers and home furnishing fabrics, has been created in collaboration with Asian Paints. In this collection, Indian heritage and old designs have been presented in a new way with Sabyasachi's designs.
The collection also includes a special collection named Paris-Calcutta, which has various designs of wallpaper and furnishing fabrics. The designs use florals, damask, chintz and other traditional patterns, bringing a touch of Indian design and Sabyasachi's fashion style to home decor.
