Patna. A case of molestation and assault by two youths on a Class 10 student returning home from coaching has come to light in Khajekalan police station area of Patna City. The student lodged a police complaint on Tuesday. After the incident, the police scanned the footage of CCTV cameras installed nearby, in which photographs of both the suspects were captured. Police are conducting raids to arrest him.
The incident is reported to have taken place near Barkat Khan Ka Akhara around 8.45 pm on Monday evening. The student was returning home on foot from a private coaching institute located in Gurhatta along with her two friends. Meanwhile, two youths already standing on the road started teasing her.
When the student protested against this, both of them beat her up. When the girl students raised an alarm, people nearby ran towards the spot. Seeing people coming, both the youths ran away from there.
Identification of accused from CCTV footage
After receiving information about the incident, the police examined the footage of CCTV cameras installed nearby. According to the police, the picture of both the youths is clearly visible in the footage. ASP Rajkishore Singh said that both the accused have been identified on the basis of the footage.
According to the police, the victim and her friends have also confirmed the identity of the two after watching the footage. Raids are being conducted continuously at possible places to arrest the accused.
Police is taking further action
Based on the complaint of the victim, Khajekalan police station is investigating the case. Police are also investigating other footage around the incident site and facts related to the incident. At present both the accused are out of the custody of the police and efforts are on to arrest them.
