According to information received from the police, retired IAS Rakesh Aggarwal lived with his wife in Suraj Nagar. On Wednesday morning, his wife woke up at around 5.30 as usual and was going out for the morning walk, when she went to Rakesh Aggarwal’s room and saw him lying soaked in blood. They searched for the caretaker but he was not seen. Then he called his second servant.
The servant and Agarwal’s wife informed the police. When the police reached the spot, they found his body stained with blood. There were deep injury marks on the neck. At the same time, the jewelery worn on the hands and neck were missing, hence it is suspected that this murder was done with the intention of robbery. After committing the murder, an attempt was also made to set the house on fire, the police suspect this after seeing the circumstances of the spot, because the pipe of the gas cylinder was found protruding and the entire house was filled with gas.
ACP Ankita has told that Aggarwal had hired a caretaker through an agency two-three days ago, and it is suspected that this murder was committed with the intention of robbery, because the caretaker is absconding from the spot. Police is busy investigating. It is reported that Agarwal was a 1982 batch IAS officer and he retired in 2016. They have a son, who lives in America.
