Claim of every Saturday holiday in bank is fake, government has not issued any such order

Tezzbuzz Desk- A fake notification related to bank holidays is becoming increasingly viral on social media. It is being claimed that now every Saturday will be a holiday in all the government banks of the country. After this news came out, a situation of confusion has arisen among bank customers.

The viral document is said to be issued in the name of the Central Government and the Finance Ministry. It claims that all government banks including State Bank of India (SBI) will remain closed on every Saturday and it has been declared a public holiday. Many people are sharing this message further considering it to be true.

However, after investigating this claim, the Fact Check team of Press Information Bureau (PIB) has declared it fake. PIB clarified that no such order or gazette notification has been issued by the Central Government or the Finance Ministry regarding holiday in banks every Saturday.

There has been no change in the existing rules regarding Saturday holiday in banks. According to the current system, the banks of the country remain closed on the second and fourth Saturday of the month. Banks generally remain open on the first, third and fifth Saturdays.

This means that if there are five Saturdays in a month, banking services are normally available on three Saturdays. Customers are advised to consult the concerned bank or official government sources for information about holidays instead of relying on such notifications going viral on social media.
