Bus overturns: 33 West Bengal tourists injured, 9 referred to GMC Jammu – Tezzbuzz

About 33 tourists from West Bengal were injured today when a sleeper bus turned turtle on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway at Maroog in Ramban near a tunnel.

The ill-fated bus was bearing registration number WB39K-2929 and it was on its way from Srinagar to Jammu when the accident took place at Maroog.

Soon after the accident, locals along with cops and others started a rescue operation and shifted the injured passengers to District Hospital Ramban.

The nine critical passengers were referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu.

Senior Police and district administration officers were present on the spot to monitor the situation.

Sources informed that the bus was having a capacity of 58 passengers and it was carrying 55 passengers at the time of accident.

Meanwhile, MoS PMO, Dr. Jitendra Singh has expressed shock over the accident.

In a post on X (former Twitter), Dr. Singh posted: “Spoke to DC Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan, after learning about the road accident involving a passenger bus bearing West Bengal registration number. All possible assistance and medical aid is being provided. My office is in regular touch with the authorities.”

Police has taken cognizance of the mishap and started investigation to know the reasons behind the accident.
