Dehradun. In view of the increasing movement of tourists and possible traffic pressure during the weekend, Dehradun Police has implemented a special traffic and diversion plan for Dehradun, Mussoorie and Rishikesh area from October 2 to 4. As traffic pressure increases, Plan-A, Plan-B and Plan-C will be implemented as per the circumstances. Additional police forces have been deployed at major intersections, markets, tourist places and sensitive routes.
For vehicles going to Mussoorie from Delhi, Haryana, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur and Roorkee, the route to Mussoorie has been fixed via Datkali-ISBT-Shimla Bypass-St. Jude Chowk-Ballupur-Cantt-Kimadi-Kuthalgate. If traffic pressure increases, other alternative routes including Kimadi-Hathipaon route will also be used.
Vehicles going to Chakrata will be routed via Datkali-ISBT-GMS Road-St Jude Chowk-Nayagaon-Singhniwala-New Dehradun-Paonta Flyover-Langha Road. For vehicles going from Rishikesh and Haridwar to Mussoorie, the route to Mussoorie has been fixed via Thano Road-Maharana Pratap Tiraha-Ladpur-Sahastradhara Crossing-IT Park-Kirshali Chowk-Sai Mandir-Kuthalgate. In case of increased traffic pressure, alternative routes like Doiwala-Miyawala-Nathuwala or Nepali Farm-Bhaniyawala-Thano Road will be used.
Plan-B will be implemented when the parking capacity in Mussoorie is filled up to 90 percent. Under this, tourist vehicles will be parked in King Craig parking and from there tourists will be sent to their destination through local taxis. Plan C will be implemented if the King Craig parking lot is also full. In this, vehicles will be sent towards Zero Point via Gazzi Band via Hathipaon Road and vehicles will be parked at designated parking spots.
In Rishikesh also, different plans will be implemented depending on the traffic pressure. Vehicles coming from Haridwar will be sent to Tapovan and further via Raiwala-Nepali Farm-Shyampur-Natraj Chowk-Dhalwala-Bhadrakali bypass. In case of increased traffic, Laltappad-Bhaniyawala-Ranipokhari route will be used. Separate routes have also been set in the direction of Haridwar and Dehradun for vehicles returning from hilly areas.
Diversion will be implemented as per requirement in case of increased traffic pressure in Pacific Mall, Centrio Mall, Sahastradhara and Guchhupani area in Dehradun city. Police have appealed to drivers and tourists to use only designated parking spaces.
According to the police, vehicles of essential services like ambulance, police and fire brigade will not be stopped or diverted. If a vehicle is parked in a no-parking zone, action will be taken as per rules including removal of the vehicle through crane. The police have appealed to the drivers not to blow horns unnecessarily, follow the instructions of the traffic personnel and move only according to the information boards installed on the routes.
