17 years red-ball journey ends

In his emotional post, Chahal shared the childhood memory when he held a cricket ball in his hand for the first time. He told that that ball was red and at that time he was only 10 years old. According to him, red-ball cricket taught him the importance of being patient, surviving in difficult situations and continuously fighting for every run-wicket.

Chahal never played a test match for India. However, he bowled for a long time in first-class cricket and took 148 wickets in 49 matches in his career. He made his first-class cricket debut for Haryana in 2009.

Last red-ball match played at Lord's

Chahal's first-class career ended in England. He played his last red-ball match for Northamptonshire in the 2026 County Championship against Middlesex at Lord's. He took two wickets in this match. Chahal also mentioned in his message that his dream of playing Test cricket was not fulfilled. However, he also said that his hunger to play for the country has not gone away yet and he will work hard to get another chance in ODI and T20 cricket. This means that the red-ball chapter of Chahal's career has definitely closed, but his journey in white-ball cricket will continue.
