Easy Home Remedies for Cleaning: Copper and Brass Utensils

Cleaning Copper and Brass Utensils

The month of October is the time of many fasts and festivals, in which the great festival of Navratri is going to start from 11 October 2026. The festival of Navratri has special significance in Hindu religion. During this time devotees use brass and copper utensils to worship the Lord. But if these utensils are not used for a long time or they get blackened and stained due to moisture, then their shine reduces.

In such a situation, there is no need to buy expensive cleaners. You can make copper and brass utensils shine again with some simple things present in the house.

Clean with lemon and salt

Lemon and salt are an effective solution for cleaning copper and brass utensils. Cut a lemon from the middle and sprinkle some salt on it. Then rub this half lemon gently on the vessel. After 5 to 10 minutes, wash the utensil with water and wipe it. This will remove stubborn stains and blackness to a great extent.

tamarind pulp

If there are old stains on utensils, tamarind pulp can also be helpful. Soak tamarind in water for some time and extract its pulp. Then apply it on the utensils and leave it for a few minutes. After this, clean it gently with a soft scrubber and wash with water.

Baking Soda and Lemon

A mixture of lemon and baking soda is also helpful in cleaning copper utensils. Make a paste by mixing both and apply it on the utensils. After 10 minutes, rub with a soft sponge and wash. This brings back the shine of the utensils.

vinegar and salt

If copper utensils have become very black, use a mixture of vinegar and salt. Mix vinegar and salt and apply it on the vessel. After a few minutes, rub gently and wash with clean water and immediately wipe with a dry cloth. This removes stains and brings back new shine to the utensils.

Gram flour and curd

If you want to adopt a chemical-free method, then make a thick paste of curd and gram flour and apply it on the utensils. After 10 to 15 minutes, clean the copper utensils by rubbing them gently. This method not only helps in removing dirt from the utensils but also helps in maintaining their natural shine.
