Health Desk. High blood pressure is often considered a problem without symptoms, but in some people the body may give some signals when BP increases. The problem is that these symptoms are ignored by attributing them to general fatigue or other reasons. In such a situation, it is important to get blood pressure checked from time to time. Pay special attention to these five signs seen in the body.
1. Frequent headaches
Some people may complain of headache if blood pressure increases significantly. If headaches are recurring or feel different than usual, it is advisable to get BP checked.
2. Feeling dizzy or uncomfortable
Sudden dizziness, weakness or a feeling of loss of body balance can occur due to many reasons. If such complaint persists, get your BP checked along with medical advice.
3. Blurred vision
Excessively increased blood pressure can affect the blood vessels of the eyes. If you experience blurred vision or a sudden change in vision, it should not be taken lightly.
4. Trouble breathing
In some serious conditions, increased BP can put pressure on the heart and blood circulation, causing problems like breathlessness. If such a problem is sudden or severe, it is important to seek immediate medical help.
5. Chest pain or pressure
One should not wait at home considering chest pain, heaviness or pressure as mere symptoms of BP. It can also be a sign of a serious heart problem and in such a situation, immediate medical help is necessary.
Do not identify based on symptoms alone
High blood pressure is not confirmed by symptoms alone. Despite increasing BP in many people, no obvious signs are visible. Therefore regular BP check is important. If blood pressure becomes very high and is accompanied by chest pain, severe trouble breathing, weakness, trouble speaking, or sudden changes in vision, seek medical help immediately.
