Yogasanas to strengthen legs and increase agility
1. Tadasana (Mountain Pose): Tadasana may look easy, but it helps in maintaining posture and balance of the body. To do this, first of all stand straight and keep a little distance between both the legs. Now while breathing slowly, raise both hands above the head. Pull the body upwards and when you feel comfortable, try to balance on the toes by lifting the heels. Wait for a few seconds and then return to normal position.
2. Utkatasana (Chair Pose): If you want to activate the muscles of thighs and legs, you can practice Utkatasana. To do this exercise, stand straight and keep your legs slightly apart. While breathing, raise your hands in front or above the head. Now slowly bend your knees, as if you are sitting on a chair. Keep your back in a comfortable position and stand back up after a few seconds.
3. Virabhadrasana-2 (Warrior Pose): This yoga asana is useful for working on leg strength and body balance. To do this, stand with your legs spread. Turn the right foot outwards and slowly bend the right knee. Spread both the hands in line with the shoulders and look ahead. Hold for a few normal breaths, then repeat on the other side.
4. Tree Pose: For agility, not only strength but also body balance is necessary. Vrikshasana can help in this practice. To do this exercise, stand straight and place your body weight on one leg. Place the sole of the other foot on the shin or thigh of the supporting leg, not on the knee. While maintaining balance, keep your hands in Namaskar posture. Wait for a few seconds and then practice with the other leg. If necessary, take support of the wall.
