India successfully defended their Asian Games men's cricket gold medal after defeating Pakistan by 19 runs in a thrilling final at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin on Saturday, October 3. The win means that India retains the title they won at the Hangzhou 2023 Games.
India batted first after being asked to bat and scored a sensational 211/6. Abhishek Sharma played a sensational 61 off just 28 balls, hitting seven sixes and three fours off the bat to give India a blistering start.
Tilak Varma's late assault powers India past 200
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi chipped in with early runs before being run out for 15, while Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan contributed 21 and 20 respectively.
Tilak Varma rose to the challenge at the crucial moment as India needed a big total. The left-hander hit the death overs like a storm and remained unbeaten on 51 off 22 deliveries to help India post a competitive total of more than 200 runs.
Shivam Dube added 27 off 15 balls as the team eventually posted 211/6. Pakistan was in for a tough chase in the gold medal match.

The visitors were off to a poor start as India's bowlers dismantled them to 39/3. However, Hasan Nawaz and Saim Ayub steadied the innings as they added 87 runs for the fourth wicket.
Their seemingly unbreakable partnership began to wane as Dube removed Ayub to give India a much-needed boost.
India's bowlers held their nerves in the final moments and Pakistan failed to make a dent. They eventually finished at 192/5 in their 20 overs, giving India a narrow 19-run win.
India has successfully defended the Asian Games men's cricket title and added another gold medal to their tally at Aichi-Nagoya.
