The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is soon going to finalize its major action in the nationwide NEET-UG 2026 (NEET-UG 2026) paper leak case related to the medical entrance examination. The investigating agency is preparing to file its second and final chargesheet in the court in this much talked about case within the coming week. Meanwhile, according to the biggest information coming out related to this case, no official or government official of the Central Government or the National Testing Agency (NTA) will be made an accused in this final charge sheet. According to the investigating agencies, the thorough and detailed investigation so far has revealed only the involvement of private individuals. Role of only 13 private persons exposed in CBI investigation. Major media reports and quoting senior officials having knowledge of the case have revealed that in the long and technical investigation of CBI, only 13 private persons have been found to have played a role in this paper leak conspiracy. These accused include some subject experts appointed by NTA, people running coaching centres, middlemen (brokers) and some doubtful candidates. Officials clearly say that during the investigation of the circumstances and forensic evidence related to the paper leak, the involvement of any other government official or agency employee apart from these private people has not been proved. This is why the name of any government or NTA official will not be included in the final charge sheet. First charge sheet and scope of main accused: Earlier, CBI had filed its first charge sheet in this case on July 28 this year, in which the names of 13 accused were recorded. These included three major subject experts appointed by NTA, namely Manisha Gurunath Mandhare for Botany and Zoology, Prahlad Vitthalrao Kulkarni for Chemistry and Manisha Sanjay Havaldar for Physics. During investigation, it was revealed that these experts had access to the master question set at various stages of question paper preparation, which they misused. However, the CBI had then also said that the investigation into the role of other conspirators was kept open on the basis of reports from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) and other technical experts, paving the way for the final chargesheet. Major political and administrative changes after the paper leak: It is noteworthy that after the news of question paper leak during the NEET-UG examination held on May 3 this year, there was huge political uproar and protests by students across the country. Considering the seriousness of the matter, NTA had announced the cancellation of the examination on May 12, after which the examination was conducted again on June 21. After this major administrative crisis and nationwide protests, the then Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had to resign from his post. Now after the arrival of this final charge sheet of CBI, a new twist is expected in this entire legal episode.
