Speaking to IANS, Ram Kadam said, “In future, whenever a list of leaders who lie is made, Rahul Gandhi's name will be on the top.”
He said, “A few months ago, Congress itself had taken out a rally in Maharashtra to remove 'fake voters' and had also demanded postponement of the elections. Rahul Gandhi has a habit of forgetting things, hence he does not remember the demands of his own party.”
The BJP leader said that SIR is a process to correct and clarify the voter list and making allegations without evidence is an attack on democracy.
Ram Kadam also accused opposition leader Rahul Gandhi of defaming the Constitution and constitutional institutions. “Instead of repeating allegations of ‘vote theft’, Rahul Gandhi should clearly say that he does not want fake voters to be removed,” he said.
Ram Kadam also criticized senior Congress leader and former Union Minister P. Chidambaram and said, “Doesn't he know that his party had taken out a rally in Mumbai demanding the removal of fake voters? Unfortunately, he belongs to a party whose leader Rahul Gandhi gives a bad name to India during his foreign visits.”
On Saturday, Chidambaram had hit out at Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, saying the most “sensible thing” the Commission chief could do was to resign immediately amid reports of differences within the Election Commission.
Furthermore, Ram Kadam described the opposition's allegations against the CEC as a 'planned conspiracy' and asked, “Why would our enemies want our country to progress?”
He said, “Today heads of countries like America, Australia and Russia are praising India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This is the appreciation of all 140 crore Indians, because today the country is developing rapidly.”
Citing the 7.8 per cent growth in real GDP, the BJP MLA said, “Seeing this progress, some of our enemies sitting abroad are funding people here to insult our constitutional institutions and spread anarchy.”
“Unfortunately, the Congress, both the Thackeray brothers (Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray) and the country's opposition are at the forefront of doing this,” he alleged.
