Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has given a strong reaction to the alleged sexual harassment of women journalists by policemen during the protest against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar at Jantar Mantar in the national capital Delhi. Priyanka Gandhi questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah as to why they were not paying attention to this. Gandhi said that women journalists have accused policemen of sexual harassment while reporting at Jantar Mantar. In a post on his social media platform X, he said that despite protests by dozens of journalists, neither any FIR was registered nor any concrete action was taken.

He said that women are feeling unsafe from the same police force whose job is to provide security. The Congress General Secretary said that from college students to journalists, women everywhere are feeling unsafe. What did the women journalists allege?
An official said on Sunday that during the protest against CEC at Jantar Mantar on October 3, three women journalists have accused policemen of sexual harassment, after which Delhi Police has handed over their complaints to the Crime Branch for a fair investigation. On Saturday, one of the female journalists accused an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) of sexual harassment during a conversation with PTI.

The official said that the New Delhi District Police has received complaints following the alleged incidents that took place during the protests. At that time policemen were deployed to maintain law and order. The officer said that the district police has handed over the complaints to the crime branch for a fair investigation. The crime branch will investigate the allegations and record statements of the complainants and other concerned people, the officer said. The Press Council of India expressed shock and disappointment at the police's behavior with journalists covering the protests and asked the Delhi Police to take immediate action on the complaint.
