The district and metropolitan units of Gorakhpur have been dissolved with immediate effect. Along with this, apart from the district and metropolitan units of the frontal organizations, the officials associated with Gorakhpur in the state executive have also been removed with immediate effect. This decision of the party is being seen in connection with the slapping between the leaders in the press conference held a day earlier.

In fact, during SP's press conference at Gorakhpur Press Club on Saturday, there was a dispute between former District President Nagina Sahni and Anshuman Singh, who is contesting for SP from Gorakhpur Rural Assembly seat. It started with an altercation, but within a short time the matter escalated into a scuffle.

After the controversy, the party expelled Anshuman Singh. Now the very next day the decision to dissolve the district and metropolitan units of Gorakhpur has come out. It has come to light that both Anshuman Singh and Nagina Sahni are contenders for SP ticket from Gorakhpur Rural seat. In such a situation, the controversy that took place during the press conference is also believed to be related to the ongoing tussle within the party at the local level.
