BJP's Central Election Committee announced the list of 8 candidates from Uttar Pradesh for the biennial Rajya Sabha Elections. Two women have been nominated in this list.
According to the list announced by the BJP, Dharmapal Singh, Radhakant Ojha, Prakash Pal, Vidyasagar Sonkar, Gopi Krishna Pandey, Priyanka Singh Rawat, Ram Pratap Singh Chauhan and Shruti Gangwar have been nominated.
Voting on October 16
Biennial elections will be held on 10 seats of Uttar Pradesh and 1 seat of Uttarakhand, while by-elections will be held on one seat of West Bengal. All these seats will go to polls on October 16. The tenure of 11 Rajya Sabha members from Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand will end on November 2026. Because of that, elections have started in these places.
Apart from that one seat of West Bengal is vacant. Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha member Rukmini Mallik had resigned from here on July 16. His tenure was till 2 April 2032. Now re-election will be held in this vacant seat.

Last date for application is Tuesday
According to the Election Commission, the last date for filing the application form is October 6. Scrutiny of applications will take place on October 7 and candidates can withdraw their names till Friday, October 9. Voting will be held on October 16. Voting will be held from 9 am to 4 pm. Counting will start at 5 pm on the same day. The entire election process will continue till October 19.

The Election Commission has decided a special rule for this election. After requisitioning the ballot paper for voting, only the integrated violet color sketch pen can be used. This pen will be issued by the Returning Officer. No other pen can be used to vote.
The Commission said that observers will be appointed to make the elections free and fair and the election process will be closely monitored.
