Lifestyle Desk:- If you want to eat something for breakfast which is tasty and keeps your stomach full for a long time, then chickpea parathas can be a good option. Chickpeas are a source of nutrients like protein and fiber. By including them in the stuffing of paratha, you can make your daily breakfast a little more nutritious. The special thing is that it does not take much time to make chickpea parathas. If you have leftover boiled chickpeas from the night, then this breakfast can be prepared even quicker in the morning. Let us know the recipe of making chickpea parathas.
Material
Chickpeas-1 cup boiled
Wheat flour-2 cups
Onion-1 finely chopped
Green chilli-1-2 finely chopped
some green coriander
Celery-1/2 teaspoon
Cumin-1/2 teaspoon
Red chilli powder-1/2 teaspoon
Coriander powder-1/2 teaspoon
salt-as per taste
garam masala-a little
water as per need
Oil or ghee for baking parathas
Method
1-First of all, take boiled chickpeas and mash them well. Keep in mind that there should not be too much water in the chickpeas, otherwise the stuffing of the paratha may become wet.
2-Now add finely chopped onion, green chilli, green coriander, celery, cumin, red chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala and salt. Mix everything well and prepare the stuffing.
3-After this, take wheat flour in a vessel and knead a soft dough by adding water as per requirement. Cover the dough and keep it aside for a few minutes.
4-Now make a ball of dough and roll it a little. Place the prepared chickpea stuffing in the middle and close it from all sides. Roll it out gently and shape it into a paratha.
5-Heat the pan and put the paratha on it. After it is lightly roasted from both the sides, apply some oil or ghee as per your choice. Bake the paratha until it becomes golden and crisp from both the sides. Hot chickpea paratha can be served with curd, green chutney or pickle.
Why can it be a good choice for breakfast?
Protein and fiber are found in chickpeas, while wheat flour provides carbohydrates and some amount of protein and fiber. Paratha made by combining these two can be a more satisfying breakfast than normal paratha. Taking curd along with it can further increase the amount of protein in the food. If you want to keep the breakfast light, then bake the paratha in less oil or ghee and take fresh curd and salad with it.
Tip: Do not keep the chickpea stuffing too wet. If chickpeas are boiled overnight, filter them thoroughly and use them. This will reduce the chances of the stuffing coming out while rolling the paratha.
