“Congratulations to the Hagrama Mohilary-led BTC government on completing 1 year in service to the people of BTR,” the Chief Minister said. CM Sarma said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government is implementing every condition of the Bodo peace accord and working to maintain peace and stability in the area.
He mentioned the implementation of several welfare schemes of the state government in BTR, including Arunodaya, Chief Minister Self-reliant Assam Abhiyan (CMAAA), Chief Minister Mahila Entrepreneurship Campaign (MMUA) and free ration.
The Chief Minister also mentioned the state government's decision to approve a special package of Rs 1,000 crore to improve road infrastructure in BTR. He said that the government is also taking steps to make this area a manufacturing and logistics hub, which can open new avenues of investment, employment and economic development.
Since the signing of the Bodo Peace Accord, efforts are being made to strengthen peace and accelerate development in BTR consisting of four districts (Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa and Tamulpur). CM Sarma has repeatedly said that implementation of the agreement, as well as development of infrastructure and delivery of benefits of welfare schemes, is necessary to transform the social and economic condition of the region.
The Chief Minister's words also reveal the political importance of coordination between the BJP-led governments at the Center and Assam and the BTC administration; Development and peace are being projected as the two main pillars of the NDA's approach towards BTR.
