Congress and several other opposition parties have been protesting continuously demanding the removal of SIR and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. On Monday too, many different organizations, including the NSUI, staged a protest at the Jantar-Mantar. The dispute involving SIR and Gyanesh Kumar has reached the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has issued a notice to the Election Commission in this matter. The case is scheduled to be heard next week. Amidst all this, Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has been continuously attacking Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. However, now the Election Commission has also checked the truth of Rahul Gandhi’s claim.
In fact, for the past few days, Rahul Gandhi has been making serious allegations against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar regarding the SIR process. In this regard, he tweeted on Monday, saying, “It is now proven beyond doubt that Gyanesh Kumar illegally and unilaterally changed Form 6. This is further proof that he misused his position to help BJP. He and everyone involved in this criminal attack on our democracy will be held accountable.” In this tweet, Rahul Gandhi also shared a press release issued by the Election Commission, in which he pointed out the third point. The issue reads, “The Supreme Court has upheld the declaration annexed to Form 6 for SIR. For periods other than SIR, the applicable form will be used as per the rules (Registration of Voters Rules 1960).”
