The opposition has opened a front against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Many MPs of INDIA alliance took out a march in Delhi today i.e. on 6th October demanding the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar. More than 150 opposition MPs including Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi participated in it. Many women MPs including Priyanka Gandhi participated in this demonstration wearing sarees. Generally it is seen that during the protest, women wear those clothes in which they feel more comfortable like suit salwar, jeans kurta etc. but unlike all this, Priyanka and other MPs chose saree.
Priyanka’s wearing of saree was different because she had straight pallu. People started comparing her look with Indira Gandhi. She was also seen climbing the barricade wearing a saree. The saree she wore is a handloom cotton saree which is made by weaving by hand. This outfit of Priyanka directly gives the message that women are no less than anyone, they know how to face any situation and they also know their meaning. TMC MP Mahua Moitra was wearing a yellow cotton saree. Nationalist Congress Party leader Supriya Sule was wearing a green cotton saree.

Priyanka’s outfit proves the famous women empowerment campaign and political slogan given by her in which she said ‘I am a girl, I can fight.’ This is not the first time that Priyanka has been seen in saree, she often comes to Parliament wearing saree and has also been seen in saree during the election campaign. Priyanka is also compared with her grandmother Indira Gandhi as she has the same hairstyle as her and prefers to wear saree like her. Indira Gandhi was also often seen in Indian attire. She rarely wore western clothes.
What message did you give by wearing straight pallu saree?
The special thing in this performance was that at first Priyanka was wearing the pallu upside down but later it became straight, which perhaps points towards those women associated with Indian tradition who have been carrying forward the tradition of wearing saree for centuries. Who is far away from the urban culture, whose day still starts with lighting a lamp in the courtyard of the house and taking care of the family is his priority. It can be seen in the pictures that Priyanka is breaking the barricade and going up in a saree, she has handled the saree so well that it is not becoming an obstacle in her path.

After Priyanka’s saree, if we talk about her footwear, she was wearing blue colored sports shoes which were giving her a classy look along with comfort. The slogan ‘Ladoo Hoon Lad Sakti Hoon’ was started to generate political stake and confidence among women before the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections in the year 2021. Its purpose was to inspire women to stand up for their rights and lead. Under this campaign, a popular theme song Ladki Hoon Lad Sakti Hoon was also released on YouTube playlist, which was highly appreciated on social media.
