Uttarakhand News: The initiative of taking the local products produced in the rural areas of the state to the markets of the country and the world is now turning into a strong business model. The umbrella brand 'House of Himalayas', created by the hard work of rural women of Uttarakhand, has registered a turnover of about Rs 6 crore since its inception.
The launch of House of Himalayas got national recognition when Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself launched the brand during the Uttarakhand Global Investors Summit held in Dehradun in December 2023. The Prime Minister called it an effort to take forward the concept of 'Vocal for Local' and 'Local for Global'.
Total 83 products included in the brand
Under the brand, products associated with the local identity of Uttarakhand have been launched in the market with modern packaging, better quality and integrated branding. Currently a total of 83 products including 60 exclusive products are included in this brand. These include categories like hill pulses, grains, spices, honey, oils, herbal and personal care products as well as handicrafts. Categories like millets, pulses, rice, oil-ghee, spices, honey, herbal products, bakery, personal care and handicrafts have also been made available on the official brand website.
The most important aspect of House of Himalayas is its women-centric livelihood model. About 5,500 direct women beneficiaries associated with 55 cluster level federations are directly associated with the economic activities of this brand. This means that as the products produced in the mountains get a market, their direct benefits are reaching the rural women.

Now the reach of House of Himalayas is not limited to the local market only. Consumers can buy its products on e-commerce platforms like Amazon and Flipkart. House of Himalayas products are also available on Blinkit, Swiggy Instamart and BigBasket through Quick Commerce. Apart from this, direct purchasing facility is also being provided across the country through the brand's own D2C website. Apart from this, the brand's products are also being made available in international markets like America and Canada through Amazon Global.
House of Himalayas is an important initiative to give recognition to the local products of Uttarakhand in the national and international markets. In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of Local to Global, the products of the state's mother power, farmers and rural entrepreneurs are being made available to the international market through this brand. Our aim is that the products manufactured in the villages of Uttarakhand should get the global market and its direct benefit should be to the economy of our women self-help groups and local producers.
CM Dhami joins Dinesh Arya's nomination
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was present on the occasion of nomination of candidate Dinesh Arya for Rajya Sabha seat in Assembly, Dehradun on Tuesday. He congratulated Dinesh Arya on the occasion of nomination. On this occasion, ministers, MPs and MLAs including former CM Tirath Singh Rawat, BJP state president and Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt were present.
