Moscow. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Tuesday that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) leadership has assured Moscow that it is not preparing to attack Russia.
Commenting on NATO’s statements about planning a war with Russia, Lavrov told journalists, “NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and US Representative to NATO in Brussels Whittaker assured us that NATO has no plans to attack Russia and nor can they do so.”
The minister said that Moscow listens to everything and keeps its eyes open. “We are carrying out the tasks set by President Vladimir Putin – under the heading of ‘Special Military Operation’ – to protect Russia from any threats from our Western neighbors,” Lavrov said.
The minister further said that Putin has clearly stated what response will be given if the Kaliningrad region or any other region of Russia is attacked.
