Tuesday night was special for Indian cricket. In the first T20 International against West Indies, captain Shreyas Iyer played an explosive inning of unbeaten 102 runs in 43 balls, leading India to victory by 8 wickets. With this century, Iyer has entered the exclusive club of Indian batsmen who have scored centuries in all three formats of international cricket – Test, ODI and T20 International. He has become the seventh Indian male batsman to achieve this feat.

Completed T20I century in 42 balls

India had a target of 172 runs at the Ekana Cricket Stadium. Team India had lost two wickets for 35 runs, but after this Shreyas Iyer took charge. He along with Ishan Kishan handled the innings and then attacked the Caribbean bowlers fiercely.

Iyer scored 102 not out in 43 balls, which included 10 fours and 6 sixes. He completed his century in 42 balls. Ishan Kishan supported him in the match and remained unbeaten on 37 runs and India achieved the target in just 14.4 overs.

Indians who scored centuries in all three formats

Before Shreyas Iyer, six Indian batsmen had achieved this feat. This list includes:

  1. Suresh Raina – First Indian to score a century in all three formats.
  2. Rohit Sharma – Centuries in Test, ODI and T20I.
  3. KL Rahul – Century innings in all three formats.
  4. Virat Kohli – Among India's leading batsmen who have scored centuries in all three formats.
  5. Shubhman Gill – Young Indian batsman who has completed centuries in all three formats.
  6. Yashasvi Jaiswal – Included in the list of Indians who have scored centuries in all three formats.
  7. Shreyas Iyer – Joined this club after scoring a century in the first T20I against West Indies.

Raina was the first to make the record

This achievement was started by Suresh Raina from India's side. In 2010, he scored a Test century against Sri Lanka and completed centuries in all three international formats. Raina was also the first Indian batsman to score a century in T20 International.

This achievement is also special for Shreyas Iyer because this is his first T20 International century. Thanks to his innings, India has taken a 1-0 lead against West Indies in the five-match series.
