Low-voltage and frequent power cuts cause heavy damage due to motor-cable burns
Due to the deteriorating situation of agricultural power supply in Bhildi Panthak and surrounding rural areas, farmers are in dire straits. Due to frequent power cut and wrong power (voltage fluctuation) by the power company causing huge damage to the expensive farm equipment, there is a lot of anger among the local community. According to the local farmers, the power company is not providing sufficient and stable voltage to the farm feeders. Due to constant fluctuations in voltage, valuable equipment like submersible motors, cable wires and starters used for irrigation are burning. While the cost of seeds, fertilizers and labor are increasing on one hand, on the other hand, the additional financial burden of repairing electrical equipment has fallen on the farmers.
The government has started a scheme to provide electricity to farmers during the day, but in Bhildi Panthak, electricity supply is being provided at one o’clock in the afternoon in scorching heat. There is a clear demand of the farmers that the electricity company should provide continuous electricity supply at convenient times and with sufficient voltage in the early morning and after four in the evening instead of afternoon. Farmers are likely to suffer further if the power company does not immediately revise the power supply schedule and resolve the low-voltage problem.
