Dr. Shekhar Salkar, head of the oncology department of Manipal Hospital, said that Nana Patekar had already died before he was brought to the hospital. According to the doctor, he was declared dead at around 5:30 in the morning. Dr. Salkar said that the doctors tried their best to save him. Cardiac massage was given for about 45 minutes to an hour, but he could not be saved.
According to the doctor, at around 2:30 in the night, Nana Patekar had messaged one of his friends that he was not feeling well. Since it was night time, the friend could not see the message at that time. Later he called them and reached their house around 4 o’clock. At that time Nana Patekar was sweating a lot. His condition gradually started deteriorating and he started fainting. After this his caretaker was sent to the hospital and the hospital ambulance arrived to take him.
When the emergency team of the hospital reached him, he was completely unconscious and was not responding. The team immediately started cardiac massage. He was brought to Manipal Hospital between 4:20 and 4:30 in the morning, but doctors found him dead. Dr. Salkar said that since the matter was a medico-legal case (MLC), the police was also informed. Nana Patekar’s body has been sent to Goa Medical College for post-mortem. According to the doctor, Nana Patekar’s family members were not with him at that time. His friends and a caretaker were present with him.
