Mainpuri. Police revealed the incident of chain snatching of a woman in Mainpuri Kotwali area of UP and arrested one accused after an encounter. According to the police, the arrested accused has been identified as Abrar. During the encounter, the accused was shot in the leg, while a police post in-charge was also injured.
According to the police, three youths riding a bike along with a woman had committed the incident of chain snatching in the Kotwali area. After the incident, the police was busy searching for the accused. Meanwhile, the police got information from the informer regarding the accused Abrar. Based on the information, the police started a checking operation to nab the accused.
It was told that the accused was going towards Elau police station area through Mainpuri Kotwali area. The police tried to stop him, but the accused opened fire on the police team. In retaliation, the police also opened fire, in which the accused was shot in the leg. After this the police arrested him.
It has come to light that a post in-charge was also injured during the encounter. Police have recovered illegal pistol, cartridges, bike and Rs 16 thousand in cash from the possession of the accused. According to the police, several criminal cases are already registered against the arrested accused Abrar.
As soon as information about the incident was received, ASP City Arun Kumar reached the spot and took stock of the incident. Police officials collected information related to the encounter and recovery. The injured accused has been immediately admitted to the hospital for treatment, where he is being treated.
Police say that the search is on for two other accused involved in the chain snatching incident. Raids are being conducted at possible locations for his arrest. The police team is investigating the role of all the accused involved in the incident.
ASP City Arun Kumar said that the police had received information from the informer, after which action was taken. The injured accused has been admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment. On the 3rd, an incident of chain snatching took place with a woman in Kotwali police station area. In this case, three teams were formed under the Kotwali police station area. All three teams were continuously working on this case. From the CCTV footage we came to know about the vehicle which was used in this incident. After getting his information, the investigating officer and our team chased the vehicle and reached Etawah. The vehicle was recovered from Etawah.”
