New Delhi. Veteran Bollywood actor Nana Patekar passed away at his residence in Goa on Thursday morning at the age of 75. Many Union Ministers including Nitin Gadkari have expressed grief over his demise. Gadkari said that with his special style of delivering dialogues, Nana Patekar immortalized many characters and created his own identity. His demise is a great loss to the Indian film industry.
Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari wrote, “The news of the demise of veteran Indian actor Nana Patekar is extremely shocking and sad. I pay my heartfelt tribute to him. Nana and I had very close and friendly relations. On the strength of his powerful acting, Nana Patekar ruled the hearts of the audience through Marathi and Hindi cinema for more than five decades.” Gadkari said that his special style of dialogue delivery. He immortalized many characters and created a distinct identity for himself. His demise is a great loss to the Indian film industry.
Nitin Gadkari also said that his work in the areas of water conservation and storage in rural Maharashtra through 'NAM Foundation' was remarkable and important. The help he provided to the families of farmers who committed suicide became a source of support for many people. Apart from being an extraordinary artist and actor, Nana was a person extremely sensitive to the needs of the society. Gadkari prayed that God may grant peace to the departed soul.
Union Heavy Industries and Steel Minister HD Kumaraswamy also expressed grief over the demise of Nana Patekar. He wrote, “Deeply saddened by the demise of veteran actor and filmmaker Nana Patekar at the age of 75. His powerful acting, distinctive voice and his remarkable contribution to cinema will always be remembered. His demise is an irreparable loss to Indian cinema and the art world. My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and countless fans. May his soul rest in peace.”
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan posted, “Heartbroken after hearing the news of the demise of famous actor Nana Patekar. His voice, style of speaking and facial expressions used to reach straight to the heart. Sometimes he used to shake with seriousness in films like 'Krantiveer' and 'Parinda', while he used to make us laugh a lot by being Uday Shetty of 'Welcome'. There was so much depth and humor in one actor. His films and characters will remain with us for a long time. Will remain in memories. May God grant peace to the departed soul.
Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil also expressed grief over the demise of Nana Patekar. Patil said that he enriched Indian cinema with his strong acting and extraordinary talent in regional cinema including Hindi and Marathi. The characters he played and his impact will always remain alive in our memories. But Nana Patekar's contribution was not limited to cinema only. The work done by him for water conservation, rejuvenation of water sources and water security in rural areas inspired many people across the country to come forward for water conservation.
CR Patil said that Nana Patekar through his actions gave the message that positive change in the society does not come through words alone, but through continuous efforts and public participation. Nana Patekar's demise is a big loss in the field of art as well as social concerns. His art, his sensitive personality and his dedication to the society will always inspire. May God rest his soul in peace and give strength to his family, friends and countless admirers to bear this loss.
Union Energy Minister Manohar Lal wrote, “The demise of renowned actor, veteran theater artist and sensitive social worker 'Padma Shri' Nana Patekar is an irreparable loss for the Indian art world. With his powerful and vibrant acting, he left an indelible mark on Indian cinema. His commitment and sense of service towards social causes will also always be an inspiration. It is a prayer to Lord Shri Ram to give place to the departed soul in his holy feet and to give solace to the bereaved family members and his countless fans. Give me the strength to endure.”
Union Minister of State Sukanta Majumdar also expressed grief over the demise of Nana Patekar. He said in the 'X' post that this is a huge and sad loss for Indian cinema. Nana Patekar was an actor of extraordinary depth, honesty and diversity. His acting in films like 'Krantiveer', 'Parinda' and 'Natsamrat' will never be forgotten.
