Simple method of making butter biscuits
Crunchy butter biscuits are a great option to enhance the enjoyment of evening tea. Instead of buying biscuits from the market, you can make these easily at your home. Wheat flour can be used in place of maida in this recipe, and it does not require many ingredients.
These homemade biscuits can be a perfect option for children's snack box or evening tea. Made with butter and sugar, these biscuits are crispy on the outside and buttery in taste.
Ingredients required for biscuits
To make these biscuits, you will need wheat flour, brown sugar and soft butter. If brown sugar is not available, normal sugar or jaggery powder can also be used. Ghee can also be used instead of butter.
Also, add baking powder, baking soda and some salt. If you are using salted butter, add less or no additional salt. Cardamom and nutmeg can be added for flavor and aroma. If you want, you can also use vanilla essence. You can also add a small amount of apple cider vinegar or curd to give better texture to the biscuits.
How to prepare biscuit dough
Take wheat flour in a vessel and add baking powder, baking soda and salt to it. In another vessel, mix soft butter and sugar well.
Now slowly add the flour mixture into the butter-sugar mixture. Add cardamom, nutmeg and apple cider vinegar or curd to it and mix everything. Avoid over-kneading the mixture, mix just enough to combine all the ingredients and make a dough suitable for making biscuits.
shape and bake biscuits
Roll out the prepared dough lightly and cut out biscuits with the help of a cookie cutter or a small glass. You can make them round or in any shape of your choice.
Make light marks on the surface of the biscuits with a fork. If you like more crunch, you can add chopped almonds, cashews or chocolate chips on top.
Now bake the biscuits in a preheated oven. When the edges become light golden and the surface looks crisp, take them out. Allow the biscuits to cool rather than eating them immediately, as they have a better crispy texture when cooled.
adjust as per taste
This recipe can be changed as per your choice. Maida can be used instead of wheat flour, ghee can be used instead of butter and vanilla essence can be used instead of cardamom. While making biscuits for children, chocolate chips or finely chopped nuts can also be added.
After cooling the prepared butter biscuits, keep them in an airtight container. These can be served with tea or coffee. This recipe, prepared with ingredients easily available at home, can become a delicious homemade alternative to market biscuits.
