Strong earthquake felt in the Philippines, the epicenter was at a depth of 10 km

Manila, 08 October 2026: An earthquake of magnitude 5.7 occurred on Mindanao island of the Philippines. The German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ) has confirmed this incident. According to the GFZ, this earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers (about 6.21 miles) from the earth's surface.

The Philippines' Seismological Society, PHIVOLCS, has issued a notice saying that this earthquake is unlikely to cause widespread damage. However, the organization has advised people to remain alert as aftershocks may be felt. Local authorities have increased surveillance. No casualties have been reported so far.
