Heard participated in the Medio Maratón Donostia San Sebastián Rural Kutxa in San Sebastián, Basque Country, on Oct. 4. Despite rainy conditions, the 40-year-old actress managed to finish it in under 1 hour and 40 minutes.
This performance placed her 95th out of 1,396 female finishers, putting her in the top 7% of women. Overall, including both men and women, she ranked 830th out of 3,801 finishers.
Heard maintained an average speed of approximately 12.7 km/h, which is equivalent to a pace of 4:44 per km, according to Women’s Health.
The most notable aspect of Heard’s result is not that she achieved this at age 40, but that she managed a sub-1:40 time in her very first half-marathon. According to a 2007 study published on PubMedthis is considered a significant milestone for recreational runners, as it requires maintaining an average pace faster than 4:45 per km over the entire 21km distance.
Heard had demonstrated her speed in June, when she ran her first 10km race in Madrid, finishing in 44 minutes and 15 seconds, with an average pace of approximately 4:26. The fact that she was able to more than double the distance while maintaining a pace of 4:44 (slowing down by only about 20 seconds) in less than four months indicates that the actress possesses a strong aerobic foundation.
Born in Texas in 1986, Heard is best known for her role as Mera in the superhero movie “Aquaman” and its sequel “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom”, as well as films such as “The Rum Diary” and “Justice League”. Her personal life previously garnered significant attention due to her marriage to and highly publicized legal battle with star actor Johnny Depp.
Following the settlement of the lawsuit in late 2022, Heard left Hollywood, relocated to Spain, and has since maintained a much lower profile. She currently lives with her three children: her daughter Oonagh Paige and twins Agnes and Ocean. While she rarely makes public appearances and has scaled back her film work, she returned to the theater stage in 2025.
