Limescale is a common problem in homes across the UK, and it can build up quickly. It is a stubborn, chalky deposit that can cling to taps, shower heads and shower screens.
If left, it can even build up in pipes and heating systems. Not only can it look unsightly, but it can also cause damage. Removing limescale can be hard work, yet there are many limescale-removal products on the market.
I have tried a few out for myself, yet one product has remained my go-to. While many people choose Viakal, I have discovered a cheaper product that I think works much better.
I now purchase Flash Bathroom cleaner, which is £1.89 for a 500ml bottle in B&M and £2.44 for an 800ml bottle from Asda. It promises to remove up to 100% bathroom grime and limescale.
Viakal’s Classic Limescale Remover is £2.89 for a 500ml bottle from B&M and £4.98 for a 1050ml bottle from Asda.
Flash limescale remover
Flash’s product comes in a bottle nearly identical to Viakal’s, which is simple and easy to use. The instructions recommended leaving the solution on the limescale area for up to five minutes.
Simply use the spray nozzle to cover the affected area and leave it for the recommended time. Once the time is up, wipe the product away with a damp cloth.
I find the results impressive: after gently wiping the product off my bathroom taps, much of the limescale was lifted.
I like to go back in and scrub with a sponge to ensure all the limescale is removed. My taps looked considerably better and shifted plenty of limescale.
It was easy to achieve the results as the product does all the hard work for you. When I have used Viakal in the past, I was left with limescale deposits still covering my taps.
For me, Flash’s cleaner is the best product on the market and is what I rely on when I need to tackle limescale build-ups in my home.
