This controversy pertains to the allegation that Corporation Councilor R. Sugathan's attendance was falsely recorded by forging his signature, making him absent from the council meetings held on 26 February, 11 March and 27 April.
Deepak had alleged that fraud was committed in the mayor's office with the knowledge and connivance of Rajesh. The Mayor has described the allegations in the notice as completely false, malicious and baseless.
He alleged that Deepak deliberately called a press conference on October 4 to damage his reputation and insult the dignity of the post of mayor. Rajesh also objected to Deepak's claim that he had obtained a copy of the corporation's attendance register under the Right to Information Act and the signatures in it were found to be forged.
According to the notice, Deepak had made the allegation without presenting any concrete proof or evidence. The notice further alleged that Deepak had accused Rajesh of colluding with BJP and RSS to manipulate the proceedings of the corporation and commit irregularities.
Rajesh claimed that these allegations have caused serious damage to his reputation and public image, especially because these allegations were widely circulated through news channels and social media.
The notice also alleged that Deepak's statements were aimed at hampering the development activities of the corporation under the leadership of Rajesh and may have an adverse effect on the morale of the officers and employees of the corporation. Rajesh said that his political record has been spotless and these allegations have caused him humiliation, mental anguish and loss of reputation.
